Monitor performance using Task Manager
Use Task Manager to view the performance of your server and identify the process that is using a large amount of resources such as CPU, memory, disk or network.
Check disk space
Low disk space can cause a server to slow down. Use the Disk Cleanup tool to remove temporary files, system files, and other unnecessary files.
Check for malware
Slow performance can be a symptom of malware. Use Windows Defender or another anti-malware solution to scan your server and remove any detected threats.
Check the Event Viewer
The Event Viewer logs system events and error messages. Check the logs for error messages related to performance and resolve them.
Update drivers and firmware
Outdated drivers or firmware can cause performance issues. Check for updates and install the latest versions.
Check for software updates
Windows Server 2019 may slow down due to outdated software. Check for updates and install the latest versions.
Review the services
Some services may not be necessary for your server, and running unnecessary services can slow down your server. Review the services that are running and stop any that are not needed.
